Try to avoid "petting" your lines down--that is, little tiny short strokes to make up a long line.. it'll eventually work against you. It also encourages against something really important: laying down your drawing in simple lines of movement with long, light and loose strokes before you put down more solid shapes. Don't be afraid of putting down your lines decisively, because I know I used to pet mine down because I wasn't entirely sure where it was really going to go--but use light lines and an eraser. You'll be okay. :3
